The following list represents just some of the ways that you can contribute to this CCSF Social Sciences online journal. Bring your own ideas to the table and contact us.
HONORS STUDENTS PAST AND PRESENT: PUBLISH YOUR WORK! BUILD YOUR ACADEMIC RESUME! Contact the Faculty Advisor for instructions.
All projects have specific requirements to be met. Please contact the VLY Team to discuss your ideas.
Journal Articles
Journal Articles contribute original research to the overall body of knowledge of the world around us. These student produced original research articles are written as part of the CCSF Honors program or under the direction of a CCSF faculty member. Publication of a journal article requires the signoff of the directing faculty member attesting that the article submission meets originality and formatting standards for the appropriate field of study. Journal articles can also be submitted to the Voices Like Yours editorial team for review and approval, meeting the same standards as Honors work.
Oral Histories
Voices Like Yours is actively seeking the life histories of all members of the world community. Using the practices of Oral History, collect the life story of a family member or friend. Write an essay weaving their story into the narrative of history. Add pictures!
Primary Source Collections
Does your family have memories to share? Add them to the collection of letters, diaries, photos, and oral histories that are the building blocks of the story of our world. You will need to scan, organize, narrate and place the material into historical perspective. Contact the VLY Team.
Book Reviews
Recommend a great read. Many books help shape the paradigm through which we view the world. This is your opportunity to provide a valuable critique of a book that shaped yours, explore its strengths and weaknesses, offer places for improvement, and perhaps encourage others to read it too.
Places To Go
Love to travel? There is much to see, even in your own backyard. Do some research into one of the Bay Area's historic sites or museums and evaluate how well it represents the events of the era. Is there a bias? Are some aspects of history represented better than others? Whose story is left out?
